We are proud to share that Dr. Darko Glujić, a researcher from the University of Rijeka – Faculty of Maritime Studies (PFRI), has been awarded a grant from the SFPE Foundation and presented his work at the SFPE25 Conference held in Vancouver, Canada.
Dr. Glujić’s research explores computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis of fire integrated with virtual reality (VR) visualisation, aiming to enhance maritime firefighting training. By combining advanced simulation techniques with immersive learning environments, his work contributes to improving safety and preparedness in complex maritime operations – a growing priority in the transition toward smarter and more resilient ports and vessels.
The SFPE Foundation award recognises outstanding contributions to the field of fire safety engineering and builds upon the research carried out within the Horizon Europe–funded INNO2MARE project. This achievement also reflects the continued support of the University of Rijeka through the UNIRI INOVA project, demonstrating strong synergy between European and institutional research initiatives.
Congratulations to Dr. Glujić for this remarkable accomplishment and for exemplifying how INNO2MARE Pilot Project 1 research continues to drive innovation, excellence, and international collaboration in maritime safety and technology development.
