We’re thrilled to announce that our partner PFRI has published their latest study, “Coupling CFD and VR for Advanced Firefighting Training in a Virtual Ship Engine Room,” in a prestigious SCI journal Engineering!
In this ground breaking study, they explore how incorporating Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) models into Virtual Reality (VR) simulations can take maritime firefighting training to a whole new level. VR hasn’t yet seen extensive use in the industry due to challenges in replicating realistic fire dynamics. Their approach addresses this by transferring CFD-based fire spread models into VR, creating a lifelike, immersive training experience. Initial testing shows that users find CFD-based fire far more realistic than traditional VR models.
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to innovate in fire safety technology!
